In the small clearing dove a phoenix, hurling toward the earth. In midair the fire was suddenly extinguished and a human took its place, extending her legs to reach the ground with a satisfying thud. Shae adjusted her robes, made in the liking of her phoenix counterpart self--hues of green, purple, blue, but dominated by shades of orange, yellow, and red. There was a delicate state of red, however, considering her hair was the color most commonly associated with fire. Strapped on her back was her ever faithful bow and quiver filled with arrows, although the last time she used them . . . well she couldn't even recall the last time she used them.
Running a hand through her short, choppy hair, she glanced over to see the river, although knew it was there all along. Shae proceeded with caution, a habit picked up over the years, but her ways were considerably more careless than usual. She felt confident that nothing would attack her unless it be a wild beast of some sort.
Her movements were fluid, somewhat graceful, like the flames of a fire. But at the same time, short and choppy, unpredictable. Within only a few seconds, she successfully refilled her canteen kept on a hook outside her quiver and set her weapons down, deciding she needed rest from carrying them everywhere and from her more recent flight that stole energy.
Shae flopped down and looked up at the unbroken sky, not hidden by clouds. The day steadily progressed: time waited for no one, although she wished it did. Even an immortal phoenix considers the rapidly changing times a force to rekon with.

Broken flew around waiting for some excitment, but nothing about her life was exciting, she landed atop a rock she turned her apex left then right looking for something nothing was here, Broken was air born again, she saw a wolf it looked strong enough for a fight, but Broken felt tired she landed with a Thud! all four paws on the ground, she folded her wings in and looked for a place to sleep, she saw a mossy rock it look fine, Broken hop atop the rock and curled up she closed her eyes, she fell asleep, she awoke to the sound of something landing she quickly got up,
she saw a human, she did not know what to do besides listen to her gut witch said attack!, she went airborn, she didn't want to but the girl could be a threat!, Broken flew above the human and then landed right beside her, snarling at the human she look the human in the eyes, Broken was about to attack she saw something n paused, she growled, then focused on the human again she bared her teeth and had he wings folded over her body, she saw the weapons and worried...

Her gaze drifted elsewhere, but even the careless Shae realized something came from up ahead as the shadow patterned itself on the earth. The speed of it all caught her off guard and she heard the swooping of wings and felt the creature land upon the earth. Her gaze went wide, but the phoenix quickly took the defensive stance as the winged wolf insisted upon growling. Her eyes narrowed and she felt the familiar flicker of dancing flames wind their way on her unharmed hands.
"I take your growling as a threat," she spat. She momentarily looked toward her weapons lying on the ground and cursed herself for such foolishness. If it was to be a combat, there would be one no doubt. Shifting into the firebird she truly was remained out of the question for now though.
Shae noted the bared teeth and inched her way back, away from both the waterside and from the winged canine whose teeth looked . . . exceptionally sharp. But she only remained on the defensive; violence was never the answer, at least until it was the last resort.
"Unless you strike me, I shall not strike you." That should buy her some time, at least she thought that to herself as she took another step back, followed by a larger one. The sun shined brightly in the clear sky; power sided toward her favor of fire, although she remained cautious about what power this winged creature had in store.

Broken Tilted her head at the human, then did something she rarely did she went to human form then look at Shae, Broken took off running, she went back to winged wolf form and flew as far as she could remembering that girl, Broken Snorted at herself for doing that, she landed on a rock, she scouted for prey she saw a hare and took off after it she grabed it in her jaws, after her meal she went to the rivers edge for a drink, she lowered her head and laped up some water,
it was only the afternoon, Broken looked at the sky, she rested her head on her paws she sighed, she fell asleep, she dream't she saw the girl again but it was different they fought and Broken had a arrow in her hind leg, Broken quickly awoken from the dream she shoke her head and beamed into the water, she saw her reflection tears fell into the water scrambling the reflection, she sat up and lept she was once more airborn, she flew above the tree tops in search of something maybe prey, maybe a fight, she landed on a rock she jumped down and sniffed,
She felt a breeze through her fur she smiled, she walked around she saw something moving it was a bear, she lept into the air she flew fast and far, she landed she was so tired she fell into a deep sleep

In an instant the winged wolf changed before her own eyes, but Shae admitted to herself this was all but unpredictable. Every creature held some sort of secret, and now knowing it was a fellow human she stood against, she felt more comfortable. At least she knew the other understood the words spoken, otherwise she would be going against a feral beast who she would have hated to kill.
But what she found completely unforeseen was the girl sprinting off in the opposite direction and eventually taking to the air. In a swift movement, Shae grabbed her bow and quiver, slung them on her back, and took off running after the girl. Now her curiosity was piqued.
Just before her lungs nearly gave out, Shae leapt with all of her strength into the air and caught fire. The flames spread over her body and the form of the phoenix was unleashed. Following the trail as best she could, the firebird dove into the sky with numerous rounds of turns, flips, and other maneuvers that led her in a distinct chase with this other person.
She must have been shy, was the concluded thought. Shae wondered why she even bothered pursuing such a strange tempered girl, but it was all about curiosity. The skies were her territory, but today the world worked against her. The odds of even finding this winged wolf decreased with every ticking second. Not even the wind carried scent.
It was almost as if Shae gave up, and she did as she descended into the thicker part of the woods. The obscurity down here was amazingly pure, but what she did find startled her. The scent of the wolf had been carried to this area, and Shae found herself looking at a slumbering bear who stirred too much for her comfort. Once again she took to the skies, exchanging her human form for her phoenix form.
And by the draw of fate, she landed upon the sleeping winged creature who stumbled across her earlier. If she had half the mind, she might have drawn her bow, but now in human form she stood in front of the wolf, about twenty yards away and standing in the more open area: she was not here to merely linger and hide behind the trees.
"Found you," she spoke aloud, jumping at the sound of her own voice that cracked throughout the peaceful wood. "Although I'm not quite sure why you ran . . ." Her voice softened and it was almost low enough to be a whisper.

Broken Whined, she didn't know how to talk, Broken barked then she jumped down off the rock, Broken gently took the girls arm in her mouth, she tried to pull the girl but she let go knowing she could hurt her,
Broken look at her barked and ran a little bit away she wanted the girl to follow, she stared at the girl, Broken barked then ran off into the woods knowing she would follow,Broken ran as fast as she could looking back every few seconds broken stop in the middle of the forest, Broken Waited for the girl to follow she need to show her she couldn't talk some how some way,
Broken lied down and waited, she knew that girl would alter her furture in some way, it would either mean death or friendship, either way it would change her forever.....

Leaf paced along the ground, skirting trees left and right. It had been a good day for him. Not only did he manage to steal off of a pretty rich merchant at the market, he even tore off a couple wanted posters of himself. Leaf was quite pleased with his doing. If only his clients could give him better missions. Sure, finding a random nobody in the streets and "disposing them" wasn't the easiest task, but Leaf hoped for something more rewarding. Perhaps infiltrating the castles might be nice.
Anyway, as Leaf sauntered into the denser part of the woods, he saw two figures. One of a wolf with wings and the other of a girl. Upon closer inspection, Leaf could tell that the girl had arrows and they had phoenix feathers upon them. Phoenix feathers, huh? he thought. I think they sell for pretty much. And without a thought, Leaf melted back into the form of a human boy and started walking towards the two, his mind spinning around the idea of how to get his hands on those feathers. After all, she's just a girl, right? And that wolf didn't appear to be her ally... Yet.

The wolf's whimpering confused her, but her binds with nature and her closeness with animals made Shae's heart nearly melt. "Well I'm not here to hurt you," she stated aloud, as if offended if the wolf even allowed such a thought to cross her mind. Shae felt a soft bite on her arm and knew better than to retract from the hold. She took a step closer to the wolf and watched it run off.
Before she went after the wolf, she felt her skin prickle on the back of her neck and couldn't resist taking a quick glance over her shoulder. Woods could be mysterious and the fact that the trees obscured anything within distance never helped ease the feeling of being watched. "Stop being paranoid," she told herself. It was common of Shae to reassure herself out loud.
Shaking off the feeling, or at least trying to, she immediately took off after the wolf. The terrain was known well to her, luckily; this was her homeland. She bounded off of rocks and dodged trees. Her agility and speed compared nothing to the wolf, at least in her human form. But flying was off limits as of now.
Every once in awhile she stole a glance behind her. But that didn't work out too well. Terrain changed and she found herself suddenly flying toward the earth, only to land in front of the wolf who was lying down. "Hello again."
Shae sat up and wiped the dirt off of her robes, only to discover a small tear. Not that it mattered much but . . . she liked these robes and this dress.

Leaf decided that a friendly approach may be the best. The girl was somehow wary of his existence. He could tell from those uneasy glances she threw back when he stalked them. Also, if the girl carried weapons, a fight might not be the best way to go. Leaf could tell that she was already troubled. Perhaps miscommunication with the winged wolf? It wouldn't be too bad to help them if he could get a couple of feathers. Of course, showing his face would mean risking being recognized as a criminal, but he decided to risk it. After all, socializing was always one of his hobbies.
After following them for a while, the terrain around them began to change. Leaf became more careful with his steps because he didn't want to alert them of his presence yet. Suddenly, in one of her glances, the girl slipped and fell. Perfect chance! he thought. I can pretend to be a kind figure and gain trust more easily.
Leaf stepped out from behind some trees. "You alright?" He asked the girl. "It seems like you're having trouble with this wolf here." He made a subtle gesture towards the winged canine. "Perhaps I can help? I am part wolf after all." A grin slipped upon his face as his eyes landed on the necklace of the wolf.

Broken Smiles at the girl and gives a soft bark, she see the human boy she glares at him, Broken Stands up and give a loud growling sound she felt uneasy, Brokens Heckles raise she saw the boy glaring at her necklace, Broken gave a warning Bark to the boy to stay away,
Broken Wacthed the boys every move, she wasn't going to let him out of her sight, she look at the girl and barked they walked a few steps away, Broken Barked once more then ran farther into the woods looking for what she needed, she needed to tell the girl why she never learn't human, the girl needed to know, Broken ran as fast as she could her heart pounding she kept an eye out for the girl she needed the girl to follow...

To hear the words nearly froze her. Surely she expected someone else to be about, but in such a close proximity stunned her for a moment. Shae recovered as well as she could and with what composure she held on to. She carefully stood up and dusted the bottom half of her robes. "Yes, I'm all right," she responded, turning so she could see both the wolf and the boy at the same time. In some way his face looked familiar, but she didn't understand why.
"Trouble? No, I think she's just . . ." Her voice cut off and she looked at the wolf who took an immediately disliking toward the boy. Shae always mistrusted people at first; this land required caution and healthy skepticism never hurt anyone. "It doesn't quite seem like she likes you, now does it?" she replied. A smirk of her own lighted upon her lips. This boy thought he could help, well he couldn't if the winged creature wouldn't let him. "She likes me better anyway."
But before she even had the chance to look over, the creature was gone. She heard the sound of brushing leaves and caught the wolf running again. Turning her back on this fellow seemed near impossible. "Maybe you should stay here. Wouldn't want you to get hurt by any means." She did what her mind warned against; she turned her back on the boy and followed the maze the wolf left behind. It was as if she wanted Shae to follow her and the reasonings behind it intrigued Shae.

Leaf scowled as the girl took off after the wolf. Whatever. They're going to take it the hard way, then. Leaf's humane figure became no more as he was replaced with a snowy white wolf. He dashed behind them, stealthily staying in the shadows and followed them. Something seemed weird. Perhaps... Perhaps something more valuable than money could be obtained. That other wolf seemed to have some secret. Some secret that could maybe be valuable.
Leaf's paws pounded the ground, yet no sound was made. He was going to find out everything he could. AND steal the feathers. However, Leaf did not intend to fight. The rival canine had an aerial advantage and it seemed like the girl would take its side. It would be foolish to even challenge them... Unless... A thought sprang up in Leaf's mind and he smirked to himself.

Broken look back, she saw the girl but she saw shadows it looked like a wolf, broken ran back to the girl and stood by her, as the wolf could be harm to the girl, Broken growled at the wolf Broken rememberd that wolf from somewhere, Broken narrowed her eyes, Broken pushed the girl alittle to get her to follow and walked slow, she didn't want to worry the girl she kept an eye on the male wolf,
Broken walked along the girls side just a bit ahead of her, Broken would look back now and then to make sure the male wolf didn't try any funny business, Broken looked at the sky it was getting dark, Broken whimpered, she steped up the pace a bit but not too much, she looked back more and more, she new there was another wolf there, it could kill the girl Broken stay Right beside the girl making sure the girl was safe..

Leaf slid behind a tree when the other wolf stopped. It seemed to know that he was there. What a pain. The other wolf had ran back and closed the distance between itself and the girl. It was going to be much harder for Leaf to get close, let alone do anything.
Scowling, Leaf decided to take a detour. He turned off to the right toward a more smooth surface in contrast to the rocky, jagged terrain they were going to approach. Here, however, he couldn't see them and he would have to rely on scent and sound to keep track of them.
Despite the terrain around being smoother and more mild, it was slippery. Leaf caught himself many times slipping on mossy rocks or wet stones. It was going to be harder to keep up, but in contrast to the jagged surface, this have been a better choice.

Wherever the boy went, she didn't know. At the moment Shae didn't pay that much attention any more. Not that she thought she saw the last of him, but because she was more focused on wondering what in the world she was doing, following an unknown wolf who seemed eager to be away from anyone else but her. She felt the small shove and walked in that general direction.
But it was getting darker as each time passed. Shae never enjoyed the night as many did; her power came with the sun. Of course she still controlled the fire element at night, but it took a little more effort. She felt the need to call fourth some fire, just so she could see her path. After all, when she was in human form, although her senses were better because of a phoenix counterpart, they weren't what they needed to be. The terrain changed and with the jagged rocks, the up soil roots, tripping would be easy.
A small flame flickered on her palm that she held out as means to see and something that might help the guiding wolf in front of her.
