The sound of the waterfalls crashing against the boulders and riverbed was as majestic as ever, echoing in this wonderful Akaikan morning. Birds chirped and the trees rustled from a slight breeze. Nothing could be better. It was peaceful and there wasn't a sight or sound that didn't fit the scene. The sun had risen, showing its bright, clear face to world. It was a miracle, a repeating miracle that would keep reoccurring as time went on.
Leaves on a birch tree rustled as a small yellow bird hopped from the interwining branches and onto the ground. Fluffing its feathers vigorously, it disappeared in a pop, only to be replaced by a young boy around the age of ten. He had clear eyes, full of curiosity and although sleep had not quite left his expression, he seemed so full of energy and ready to face the day head on. With a large stretch and yawn, he kicked his shoes off and started to wade in the water, washing his face and making a fun time out of it at the same time. "Nothing beats a spring of cool water in the morning!" he chirped.
You may be wondering what a little bird-boy is doing all by himself out in the wilderness. Well, this was none other than Pokyl Torika, or really, just Poki. It wasn't uncommon for him to wander and get lost, only to meander back to his nest after a few weeks. Spending time in the wilderness was a good way to burn off his seemingly endless supply of energy. It also kept him entertained, which was hard because, well, he is a kid.
After his little splash-around in the river, Poki bounced out of the water and dried his hands and face on his shirt, leaving a large wet spot in the center of the clothing. He didn't mind, though. The sun would dry it up soon enough and there would be nothing to worry about. Pulling his shoes on, Poki noticed footsteps coming though the woods. His interest was perked and he sat there, staring at the source of the sound with wide, glittering eyes.
