Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
It was a pretty day in Xisin, no doubt. The sun was high in the sky, and there wasn't a cloud to speak of. Up above there was nothing but a brilliant blue that could be compared to none. It was moderately hot, but not unbearably so. A slight breeze swept across the area, keeping it cool to the average individual. Yamanash was busy with activity -- it was the semi-annual fair. Vendors lined the streets, selling items from far and wide. People walked down the street on stilts, surounded by jugglers and gymnasts of all sorts. Citizens flocked to the streets, and if you didn't keep moving you would most likely have been suffocated. It was a spectacular event, and one that couldn't be easily beat. It was a miracle that there weren't any injuries, as it seemed that the city had gone over its capacity limit. Even the King and Queen had come forth from their Palace to take partin the festivities.
Sweat drenched the filly's coat, hot under the afternoon sun. Her nostrils flared, her hooves slipping and sliding on the cobblestones as she fought the rope that had been tied around her small muzzle. Two men were pulling on her, and her neck was extended to its fullest as she fought them. Bright colors flashed all around her, and there were so many people she could barely breathe. Her ears were flattened against her skull, and the whites of her eyes showed as she rocked back fully onto her back legs. Squealing, she continued to slip and slide down the street -- every-so-often lunging forward or weaving around. How could these people just watch her be treated in such a way? She had no desire to be here, but no one was helping her. Couldn't they hear her pleas for help?
The street suddenly opened to reveal a courtyard of sorts, where pens were set up in the center. Horses of all different shapes, sizes and colors were caught in them, seperated by gender and age. Being a filly, she was thrust into one of the smaller pens with quite a few of other foals. There were some mares, there with their children. They had not removed the rope, but taken the leads off so that she was free to move in the pen however she wished. She went straight for the corner. Cantering towards it, she quickly realized that anoter, slightly larger colt had taken residence there. But, it was the only safe spot furthest away from the main activity. Lowering her head and baring her teeth, she snapped at him. He returnd the gesture, but quickly got up and moved when she charged him -- bucking out behind herself. Snorting, she watched him run off to another part of the pen. Laying down, she curled up and moved as far as she could into that corner.

Ghost tossed his head into the air, causing his silver mane to fly into the air before it settled back down on his thin neck. he pointed his head toward the sky a moment, before arching his neck so that his beautiful dished face showed as he danced around. The sun was bright, and shined down upon him. He loved the way it felt against him. Days like this always made him feel at home, somewhere he belonged.
Horses were everywhere around him, but none seemed very friendly. They all shoved him away from them hatefully, as if he were crazy or something. A horse he pranced by kicked out at him, and he ducked his head, and retreated to a corner. With only a second's hesitation, he leaped over the fence, and into the pen beside his. It was then he realized it was full of mares and foals. Nickering softly, he nuzzled a foal nearby. The mare who appeared to be it's mother pinned her ears back, clearly upset about his touching her foal. With a heavy sigh, he looked around him, and spotted a filly in the corner by herself. Trotting over to her, he laid himself beside her, and nudged her gently, Not thinking that perhaps she wouldn't want his company either. He swished his long silvery tail, knocking a few flies off of his rump, and accidently brushing her with it in the process.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
Sagina, curled up in her corner, ignored everyone around her. The buzz of people, the whinnies of the horses around her -- she heard none of it. It was all background noise that meant nothing to her still pinned auds. Facing the corner, she stared blankly at the dark wood, not really thinking of anything. She was slowly cooling off from the trip here, but there was no breeze in the city, so she was still sticky and hot. Her breathing slowed, and she found herself to be quite weary. But she dare not sleep here. Anything could happen if her eyes fluttered closed. It wouldn't take much to cause the surrounding equines to get skittish and trample her, or -- God forbid -- those humans come for her again. She had been surprised when they had gotten her the first time, but she wouldn't be so blind this time. It hadn't taken much to catch the small filly, as they had ridden on full grown horses and had rope and traps. At least here she could hide in the surrounding horses and thus make it harder to catch her.
Even so, Sagina couldn't help but let herself slip a bit. She was so young, so it wasn't easy to keep herself awake. Unlike some of the other younglings here, she didn't have a mother to keep her on her toes, or to teach her the things she needed to know. Sagina was truly on her own, and she knew that. But that didn't keep her from slipping into a light, uneasy sleep. She dreamed of nothing, and could just faintly hear the commotion around her. The sand they had placed in the pins was hot on her stomach, but she didn't care. Sagina simply kept her head up and out of it to avoid getting sand in her lungs -- unlike some of the younger ones, who she wouldn't be surprised if they got sickly later on. The purpose of this place was unknown to her, but she had already seen some of the calmer ones being lead away. She assumed they were being sold off, but why she had no idea.
The little filly was startled as she suddenly felt a bit of warmth just behind her. Jolting awake, before she could jump to her feet she was nudged as well. This resulted in a soft squeal as she was swiftly back on her hooves. Spinning around, she came just about face-to-face with this unannounced presence. She already felt anxious, but the fact that it turned out to be a stallion was even more unnerving. Sagina was obviously wary of the bigger horse, and she had every right to be. It would only take a swift kick in the right spot and Sagina could be dead in moments. She wasn't incredibly smart, but she also knew that he was NOT supposed to be in this pen. So what was he doing?

Ghost backed away a step when she stood up so quickly, not wanting to frighten her any more than she already was. He nickered softly, calling her toward him. He lowered himself to the ground, as if to show her that he meant no harm, and nickered again, his light green eyes showing a deep kindness in them as he lay there, hoping to calm the filly down.
Ghost was far from a killer, and he had no intention of harming anyone. A mare lunged forward, clearly intending to move the filly further away from her own baby. Without thinking, Knight stood, and pinned his ears at the mare, clearly warning her that the filly she was after was to be left alone. He nickered again, hoping one of the horses would answer his call, and be willing to keep him company for awhile. The sky was beginning to darken a bit as the sun slowly began it's descent. Ghost looked up at the sky, not sure if he was ready to see the sun go just yet. The sand felt nice and warm beneath him, and he settled down in the corner, hoping the filly would soon decide to join him, and that no one would notice that he was here.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
Sagina's breath was once more rapid, but more from fear than actualy exertion. She kicked out behind her once more and cantered a few yards away, obviously displeased by this. Letting out a shrill whinny, Sagina weaved to the side and went clear of the lunging mare. Trotting a little ways away, she stopped and turned back on the little seen. She snorted and flicked her relatively useless tail, extended her neck and shook it. She was slightly surprised to see that the stallion had protected her some what, but she wasn't so ready to snuggle up with him just yet. Instead, she headed over to a water trough on the far side. It took a little more effort to trot in the sand, but she managed to do so while easily keeping a fair enough distance between those and most everyone else.
The area around the trough was crowded, but that was to be expected. Because of the closeness, however, mares were less likely to kick out at her for fear of hitting their own baby. Chasing an unsupervised foal away, she made enough room for herself to get a drink. Lowering her muzzle, she kept her eyes up to look for danger. Things went without incident, however, and she soon drank her fill. Just as she went to raise her head, she felt something brush the space between her ears. She was so startled that her vision went blurry. Without thinking, she snapped at whatever it was -- only to feel her mouth close around a pair of human fingers. She didn't linger to listen to what the person said next, but instead ran off. Sagina wasn't normally so aggressive, but in her eyes, it was her against everyone else here.
Moving as quickly as she could through the crowds, she made her way back to her corner -- only to see it taken by the stallion from before. For some reason, this irritated her. Sagina wasn't as fearful as she had been before, and was determined to get her spot back. Weaving back and forth for a moment, she approached him from the right. Running forward, she grabbed a few strands of his tail in her mouth. She yanked on it before letting go and running a few yards away. Whinnying, she pawed at the ground and nodded her head.

Ghost's eyes had begun to drift closed as he relaxed, clearly feeling much safer here than he had next door Suddenly, something grabbed his tail. his eyes flew open, and a low squeal escaped his throat as he looked to see what had ahold of him. It was that filly! He nickered softly to her, trying to get her to see he wanted nothing more than her company, although she seemed intent on removing him from her spot. Shifting his weight, he made more room for her in the corner.
He threw his head as a fly landed on it, and pulled his delicate ears forward. Nothing but kindness could be see in his face as he gazed at her. Something had made her angry, but he wasn't about to let such a small filly boss him. He heard voices as the humans entered the pen, and he scrambled to his feet, and tried to move the filly toward the corner. His eyes were full of fear as he pranced, hooves leaving deep marks in the soft sand underneath them. His ears swiveled as he listened for them. He knew he was not suppose to be over here, that it would only lead to trouble. But how could they expect him to stay here the horses only hated him?
He lunged toward the fence, intent on jumping back into his old pen. Then he saw them coming toward him, toward the filly he already thought of as his friend, despite the fact that she didn't seem to think so. He turned away from the fence, pinning his ears back and lunging at the humans. He nickered to her, once again trying to get her to listen, and stay out of harms way. The sound of the whip cracking made him realize he was no longer in the desert he called home. He was no longer wild and free. He bared his teeth, and reared, his hooves flailing oer their heads. He wasn't a tall stallion, but his arabian bloodlines gave him long, thin legs, and the spirit to keep pushing, and to never give in. The sound made him angry, gave him an excuse to show them all of the anger he had been holding back since they brought him to this dreadful place.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
Sagina stared at the stallion with an angry look, clearly not moved by his friendly mannor. The filly did something similar to prancing in place as she continued to bob her head. It was a look that clearly said get lost. She found that she was no longer afraid of him, so much as just annoyed by his presence. Flicking her tail out of habit, she squealed at him. Sagina didn't particularly want any company here. As soon as she was able, she planned to run away as far as she could from here. Surviving wasn't easy for someone so small, but she was too proud of herself to ask for help. Besides, she had gotten this far by herself, so she was sure she could some how manage. On top of that, Sagina had been known to linger about other herds. On the chance of a wolf attack or something similar, the chaos normally allowed her to blend in until the threat had passed.
The filly had almost completely looked over the two-legged beings walking into the pen. The only thing she really noticed was that the stallion was no longer in her corner. Prancing over there, she went into her spot and stood there. It was only then that she saw the humans. Sagina thought little of them, as she just figured they had come to take the stallion back to his pen. She watched with a calm certainty as they came towards them. The other horses ran towards the edges of the pen, stearing clear of the threat. A very soft wind went by, but it was enough to send some of the sand into her face. Lowering her head, she rubbed her eyes against her leg. Throwing her head back up, she was not happy to see them coming closer.
A whip cracked near by, and she was startled enough to skitter behind the stallion. She didn't exactly consider him a friend at this point, but was comfortable enough to hide in the safety he provided. Sagina kept herself between him and the fence, away from the people. She lowered her neck so that she could see under the stallions belly. Even so, she could only see their feet, so she didn't really know what was going on. The filly was surprisingly calm, despite the commotion that had started up in her pen. What did they want anyway? Even if they moved the stallion back into his pen he would probably end up jumping it again. They must have known that. So what did they want? She didn't think they would be after her, as she had only just got here. And on top of that, she had just bitten someone... no matter what they were here for, this wasn't going to be good.

Ghost was happy that she finally gave in, and ran behind him as the whip came down on him. He let out a shrill scream, tha made the men back up a few steps. Finally, after lashing out at him a few more times, they began to retreat. They snapped their whips at the other mares, and began moving them out of the pen, into another that was connected to it.
He snorted, and lunged at them, his hoovs making deep indentions in he sand as he threw his head. He made sure to kee the filly just behind him, afraid of moving too far away from her. He could hear their voices, angry athim for keeping them away from the filly, and jumping the fence once again.
They finally acomplished their goal, leaving the two in solitude. He snorted, and charged the men as they exited the gate, taking a piece of material off the man's shirt as he left. Ghost pawed the ground, and glanced back toward the filly, to see if she was alright. After confirming she was still there, he began prancing up and down the fence line, his tail flowing behind him, his head bobbing in time with his steps. He felt happy that he had protected her, and that she had acceted his protection. Perhaps then, he had made himself a frend after all.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
Sagina watched intently as the other mares and foals were herded into an adjoining pen. For what purpose she didn't know, and she found it quite silly. On the upside, the two were now left alone and were no longer crowded with the stranger horses. As she realized this, she shifted her weight backwards and lowered her front to the ground. It was surprisingly cat-like, but it stretched her back and muscles. After doing everything she could to do to make herself small, it felt good to stretch. Opening her mouth in a small yawn, she pulled herself back together and snorted softly. She raised her head and looked off at the adjoining pen, watching the mares and foals run around a bit before settling in random places throughout the pen. She saw a few hooves kick out, but they were otherwise calm in their displeasure.
The filly watched as the stallion chased the people off, and couldn't help but smirk. They were obviously angry, but there wasn't much they could do about it -- short of causing more stress amongst the herds than there already was. Yamanash was known for its animal loving population, so they were probably doing this with as little stress as as they could -- while keeping it convenient for the public. Shaking her head, she began to prance in circles, wondering exactly what to do now. Things were still loud and obnoxious in the city, and her ears twitched back and forth at all the shrill noises. All the talking had become a background buzz, but all the bright colors where still a shock to her eyes. Closing them and shaking her head again, she tried to focus on what to do next.
Sagina ignored the prancing stallion, and refrained from saying anything to him at all. Still young, Sagina showed a lot of what she was feeling through body language and not words. Looking around, she pranced over to the gate from which the men had left. Turning her head, she fit her muzzle through the cracks in the gate and started lipping at the lock. She didn't know how to undo it, but she figured she would at least try. It didn't take long for someone to try and pet her again. Squealing at the touch, she moved back from the gate with an angry glare. Rubbing her face on her legs again in an effort to erase the memory of such a touch, she began to notice mares and foals alike being taken from the pen nearby. Where were they taking them?

Ghost continued his prancing a moment longer, before he finally realized the extent of what he had just done. Under normal circumstances he would never of been so aggressive with anyone. But seeing this filly, alone, much like he was as a foal... It made him angry, and bought back too many painful memories.
He nickered to her, and pranced over to where she was attempting to open the lock. "Those are pretty hard to open." He called out to her as he came up on her side, trying to no scare her away from him. The noises allaround them were growing louder as evening came. The sun was much lower in the sky, and a breeze was beginning to cool things down. Crowds surrounded the pens, and the mares and foals were being taken away. Ghost threw his head nervously. He knew where they were going, and he wanted no part in it. Glancing toward the filly, he wondered if she could make it over the fence."You can call me Ghost by the way, What shall I call you?" He asked, trying his best to keep the nervous tones out of is voice. He saw people coming close to their pen again, and he backed away from the fence, nickering for the filly to follow him toward the center, where no one could reach them. Pehaps someone would open the gate again, and they could make a break for it then.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
"Well, I don't see you trying to get us out of here." she said with an irritated look. Her words were quite clear, but still had a childish slurr. It was true that the stallion had protected her thus far, but had done little to actually solve the problem. Sagina knew she didn't belong here, nor did she want to be here. The stallion had managed to chase off the people, though. It had been impressive, no doubt; but, alas, she was still stuck in this cage. Even though she was (relatively) safe here, she would have rather been on the look out for wolves than this. At least out there she could choose where and when she wanted to go. Here, all choices had been ripped right out from under her. She didn't like it. She didn't like it at all.
Looking up into the sky, she only then realized that it was getting darker. The stars were slowly peeking out from under the clouds, twinkling in the darkness. She could already tell that there was not going to be a moon that night, but she wasn't particularly bothered by the fact. It would only add to the brightness around her, and that was the last thing she wanted or needed. At least there was a breeze now, and she had cooled off considerably. Her pelt was no longer drenched with sweat, and she was breathing normally. The only clues to her aggitation were her pinned ears and constantly moving figure. Her brain was moving a mile a minute as she thought about how they were going to get out of there. Well, how she was going to get out of there.
Sagina followed him towards the center, prancing as she moved. "Sagina. My name is Sagina." she replied. As she breathed in to talk, though, the wind blew sand into her mouth. Sneezing, she snorted and tried to get it out of her mouth. It rubbed against her throat and she instantly went over to get water. The sound of the gate opening made her ear twitch and raise her head. Before she had a chance to really move, she felt that rope around her muzzle again. As she squealed and bucked in an effort to get away, another bit wrapped around her front hooves. It was pulled, and the next time she tried to move she ended up on her side in the sand. Looking up, she saw a few others with rope and whips in their hands moving towards Ghost. They looked to be herding him into the corner. She squealed as loudly as she could and kicked as they came closer.

Ghost nodded, memorizing her name. He was glad she followed him to the center, it made him feel like she was begining to trust him. His green eyes gazed out at their surroundings, watching to see where the men were. The gate was opened, and he called out as he saw the ropes fly through the air. "Sagina!" He reared, and lunged forward, only to see the men coming toward him with the ropes. He let out a shrill cry, and backed away from them, doing what he could to reach the filly and her captors.
He pranced, keeping just out of their reach for a moment, uncertain what he should do. He couldn't leave the filly here with them, which left him with being caught, and possibly seperated from her anyways. He nickered, and rushed forward, feeling a rope fall onto his neck as he ran straight into the group. He bucked, and fought the rope, knocking a few of the men down as they struggled to hold him down. The man holding Sagina fell, and Ghost felt a flicker of hope that the filly would run, and get herself out of here. Another rope flew onto his neck as more men entered the pen. Whips cracked down on him, and he squealed from the pain.
He couldn't reach his captors, with men holding him from the front and behind. a rope caught onto his flailing leg, and they nearly pulled him to the ground. Only his spirit was keeping him here, keeping him fighting. "Get out of here!" He yelled toward Sagina. What chance he stood of escaping was slim now, even as he lunged and nipped at the men holding him. They were strong, but he was stronger.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
Sagina looked something similar to a fish out of water as she kicked out on the ground. Flipping herself on her back, she tried to loosen the rope with her back hooves. It worked only slightly, but wasn't enough to get her on her feet again. Without warning, she suddenly felt both ropes loosen, and she looked up to see that Ghost had knocked quite a few of the men over. Scrambling right side up, she kicked the rope from around her hooves. Slightly dazed, she spun around, looking for the gate she knew to be open. Just as she saw it, she felt a pair of hands stupidly grab her by the tail. Kicking out with her back legs, she landed a hit and felt them loosen up. She stopped and looked at Ghost once before taking off out the gate. It had come down to something as simple as should I stay or should I go? It had been an easy decision.
The chaos that followed was enough to almost scare her back into the pen. She bucked as she ran down the cobble street. People quickly moved to the sides of the road as she cantered by. A rope still hung around her neck, but had somehow become wrapped there so that no one could randomly grab her. She didn't know where to go, or how she was going to get there, but she knew she couldn't stay here. Sagina was smart enough to know that she if she couldn't find the way out, she at least needed to find a quieter place. For this, she followed her ears. It didn't take long before she found the bad part of town. Luckily, there weren't many people and no one was paying her any mind there. Sagina found herself in a back ally, where she felt very safe.
As she stood there, looking around, she couldn't help but think of the stallion she had left behind. She figured she couldn't leave him there. It took a lot of work from her conscience, but she finally came to the conclusion that she would go back for him. She would go when things settled down in the town, and try to find where he was. Sagina didn't know how long that would take, though, as these festivals liked to take up the entire night. So, without further ado, she lowered her head and closed her eyes in a light sleep -- there wasn't much else she could do.

ghost fought for what seemed like hours, but once he noticed Sagina was out of sight, he slowed, letting the men take control over him. His grey pelt was sticky with blood and sweat, sand stuck to him from all his thrashing about. Rope burns covered his neck and legs. He was breathing heavy as they led him toward a post outside of the pen.
He didn't fight as they haltered him. He snapped his teeth at a few of the men as they removed his ropes, but didn't harm anyone. He was happy that at least the filly would not have to endure what he was about to. He saw mares and foals being led around the yard, some being taken away as people bought them, and saved them from this life.
Ghost's entire body shook as they forced him to follow them across the yard, and into a much smaller pen. It had a high fence he would not be able to jump, and there were people everywhere, pointing and staring at him. Nothing could be done as the men tied him up and left him there, telling the crowd that until he was broken, he was to remain here.
He raised his head and nickered, attempting to rear and somehow get himself out of this place. It was no use, the rope was tied too tight to the post. Weak from all his fighting, he couldn't even lay down to rest. Music played in the streets, though it did not relax him in the slightest. His light green eyes gazed down at the small patch of grass beneath his feet. He couldn't reach it, not even if he tried.
Ghost nickered softly as the horses were led past him. One mare seemed to look at him with sympathy, but it was soon gone as the man yanked her forward, angry at her for slowing down. Ghost was wrong. These men were much worse than what he had previously thought.

Sagina~
Please Can You Tell Me, So I Can Finally See, Where You Go When You're Gone?
It was a dreamless sleep, and far too light to be of any particular benefit. Lifting her hoof, she shifted her weight into a more comfortable position. It was dark -- very much so. The filly was deep in any ally way on the far side of town, and there was no moon that evening. Her small ears swiveled atop her head, and it seemed like nothing was escaping those auds. She heard the black crow in the air above, and the mouse scrambing around in the trash cans. A few shouts echoed out of a building nearby, and after a few minutes she heard a few people stumble by in their drunken stupor. Despite her eyes being closed, Sagina was surprisingly aware of her surroundings.
Sagina wasn't scared, per se, as it wasn't in her nature to be that way. It was true that she was easily startled, but there was a difference between being shocked and being scared. It seemed that such an emotional state had been replaced with something that liked to trigger her aggitation. Any time she ever ran away from something, it wasn't because she was scared -- it was because she didn't want to be hurt or eaten. An hour or so went by before she lifted her head and fully opened her eyes. She figured that the festivities had moved to the out skirts of the town. The crowds had been moving to some where, and she had seen a few activites set up in a field nearby. This meant that the center would be cleared.
Snorting and shaking her head, she turned and began to trot in the direction from which she came. Her hooves made soft clicking noises on the cobblestones, but she wasn't afraid of being discovered. No, instead, she trotted along with her head held high. The worst thing anyone could do was take her to where she was going. When she finally reached the center, she stopped and looked around the corner of a building. She was right, the party had moved on. There were still a few people wandering about, but not enough to chase her away. She waited awhile, watching as the majority of them went into a bar nearby. Once they were out of sight, she trotted over to where Ghost was being kept.
