Let's Paint The Town [/blockquote] All was quiet in the normally night-light town. The reason was because instead of being night, it was early morning around seven or so. Most drunks had already stumbled home or to their inn already and other people who lived in the dark city were either just getting to sleep or not waking up just yet. Birds chirped in the mostly empty city as they picked at the cobblestone side road. The main street, of course, was buzzing with life as it always did around the clock. But that's not where our story is, now is it?
Only a handful of people walked the side streets at this time and most people wouldn't expect people to be up if they didn't need to be. And yet two small teenage girls were on one of the side streets in the early morning, mirror images of one another. Someone could notice the small differences, like clothing and their close eye color that just wasn't quite right, but there was no one on this particular side street to notice.
One of the girls, a sixteen year old clad in blue clothing, sat on a iron cast bench with a overall sour expression on her face. She wore a checkered black and blue skirt coupled with a black skirt and a blue jacket. Silver colored boots also adorned her feet as she turned to the fellow sixteen year old. Their outfits were matching, though the standing girl who had a smile on her face was clothed in red. The girl in red also turned to her mirror image, smile growing size before she turned back to the birds and playfully chased after the birds on the cobblestones as they hopped along.
"Ilia, why did you insist on waking up so early when we have a show later?" the girl in blue asked after a moment, sour expression softening as she watched the childish teenager play in the normally busy street. The girl in red, Ilia, gave up chasing the birds after they flew away to do whatever they had to do. Ilia twirled around for a few moments, long palely colored hair softly cutting its own way through the air as well.
She stopped and looked at her twin with glee in her eyes. "Because~ Don't you see how nice it is Aili? And we've been just sleeping these days away!" Ilia stated simply, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Her twin just rolled her eyes as the sixteen year old in front of her stuck a pink tongue out at her. Ilia pulled down her left lower eyelid for an added effect before laughing and taking off down the street. "Catch me if you can!" the girl in red taunted childishly.
Aili stood up slowly and allowed a small smile on her face before running after her twin, leaving the birds to come back to the street since whatever had been bothering them had left. Ilia giggled quietly, wondering if her twin was still slightly slower then her. Her question was never answered once the teenager turned a corner and promptly tripped over something, nearly falling onto her face with a small noise of surprise. She caught herself with her hands at the last moments, nose close to the cobblestones. She looked backward to see what she had tripped over.

You May Think There's Nothing To ItA large yawn blew from her maw, her tongue curling up befor she closed her mouth once more. Nala lounged silently on a small cement outcropping, approximately two stories above. Half of her body hung off the side, but the feline wasn't one to be scared of heights. A few bird bones whisked off the ledge and onto the streets below, catching a ride on a light breeze. Nala hadn't eaten it, no, instead had drained its life force and then used it as a toy. The minute amount was hardly enough to get her through the day alone, but she had got ahold of a small dog earlier and would no doubt last awhile. The actual tearing apart of the body had only been through boredom, and wasn't nearly as gruesome as it may sound. Nala didn't have a habit of doing such a thing, but it wasn't like she had any toys. It was a lonesome life she walked, and the melancholy thought of it all made her tail twitch. Her golden eyes watched sleepily upon the empty streets below. It had been a night of any other, she supposed, but had left her tired -- as it always did. The night was falling to morning, and it was quickly becoming her bedtime. Standing up, she placed one foot directly behind the other and yawned again. Balancing precariously upon the ledge, she lowered her front and prepared her decent. Using her back feet as an anchor, she lowered her front over the edge as far as she could reach. With a small hop, she did something of a summersault to land on the ledge directly below. She caught her balance with an almost unnatural ease, and stretched her neck out to plan her next move. Dropping down yet another level, she landed on a pile of boxes and then to the ground. Her body took on the appearance of a black snake as she stretched, and then rolled on her back for a moment. Flipping back up, she layed on her side for awhile. The world was just beginning to stir, and had she not been in the shadows she would have been scared of being seen. Some people walked the streets, but this particular one was left untread. Nala had been here for a couple of days now, and was silently contemplating leaving the following evening. It was hard to always think so seriously for the young cat, as in normal circumstances she would be learning how to hunt and play. But these weren't normal circumstances, and she wasn't a normal cat. She supposed she should be on her way, as there was some whispers of a large cat in the city already -- which could be very dangerous for such a rare creature. It wasn't often that she was caught by hunters, but it had happened in the past. So it was with a heavy sigh that she got to her feet and began walking down the street. Nala had been here in the past, and knew this city (like all the other major cities) like the back of her paw. Stopping just behind the corner of a building, she sat down and scratched behind her ear. Just as she put her foot down to carry on, something hard hit her in the chest. She yowled and was twisted over herself in a flurry of legs. Twisting upright as only a cat can, she bolted down an ally where she found a few empty crates stacked up. She squeezed inbetween a small triangle space between them, and curled up against the wall. Her tail wrapped about herself as she shook in the dark, completely shocked.

Let's Paint The Town [/blockquote] A flurry of midnight black flashed in front of the red clad girl, scaring her for a moment. The oppisite of the fallen girl appeared around the corner only a a few moments behind her, confusion on her face at the state of her twin. Ilia was on the road as if she had fallen, large orb-like eyes widened just ever so slightly. Fright danced in the green irises and the twin of this teenager wondered what could have possibly happened in only so many seconds that Ilia had been from her sight.
"What's wrong Illy? You look like you've seen a ghost or something." Aili said, eyebrows raised. Ilia was often found being frightening by something idiotic like a small spider or a dark room. The girl in blue didn't receive an answer for a long period, waiting impatiently as her sister blinked a few times and then continued her silence. Aili opened her mouth to say something that was dripping in sarcasm until her sister cut her off with only a two words.
Ilia lifted her index finger in the direction where the strange midnight thing had run off to. "Over there." the girl in red answered. The response didn't seem to be like the fallen girl and the girl in blue looked towards the alleyway, not seeing anything that could shake her fellow Silver sister. Aili slowly made her way over to the alley and peered in, not really seeing anything out of the ordinary quite yet.
Ready to prove that her sister was just being a little kid again, Aili walked into the alley way. Ilia had put down her pointing arm by now and watched her sister with awe, wondering if whatever it had been was afraid of her sister. The teenager in blue was just turning around, ready to say her sister was an idiot, when something caught one of her blue eyes. Her head and then body turned as she looked at the small lump of what seemed to be black fur. The girl could tell it wasn't a coat for the simple reason that it was shaking which she was sure most fur coats wouldn't do.
"It's just a cat." Aili stated, wondering how in Xisin the cat had scared her childish sister. Ilia was up in only a moment and over to where her eerily identical twin stood. The girl in red's expression of terror and shock had transformed into one of joy. The teenage girl in blue simply rolled her eyes, knowing that Ilia loved almost anything that would move. Especially animals like cats. But when the girl in red reached towards the frightened animal, her pale hand was smacked away. A pout formed on her face along with her eyebrows lowering slightly. "You don't know where the thing has been. And besides, you'd probably just freak it out even more."
Ilia seemed to think otherwise, continuing to pout. Actually, some of the words that had been said just now were not fully true. The red clad girl usually attracted animals instead of freaking them out. So why was this feline huddled between empty crates in hiding? Ilia reached out again, stopping a moment in case her sister tried to slap her hand away again. It didn't happen, her sister just sighing and watching to see what would happen. The teenager smiled and continued to reach out to the cat, placing her fingers near the cat's face so she could see that the girl meant no harm.

You May Think There's Nothing To ItThe young feline lowered her head and peeked out for a moment, but quickly withdrew as the human began to come closer. She squished herself even closer to the wall, though her shaking had ceased and she wasn't completely terrified of the person. Her tail throbbed, thouh. The soft smacking sound resulted in a low hiss, to reveal her abnormally sharp teeth. Shifting her weight, she tucked her front paws under her body and waited -- not even really listening to the humans talk. Nala figured she was being silly, however, as it was quite obvious that they meant her little harm. Though, as intelligent as she was, she was still a wild cat. And the "Fight or Flight" rule ran strong in her veins -- and she was cornered. Any sensible person could see the problem with this situation. The fur along her back stood on end, and she was completely prepared to bite if need be. Luckily (for both them and herself), her logical mind was putting up a good fight, and she restrained from doing so. Instead, she did the typical Nala thing. With a silent gulp, she would attempt to make friends with these people. Maybe she could get some food out of these people? Much like a common house cat, she shoved her head under the girls hand. Walking out, she let the girls fingers run along her neck and back. She mewed softly and turned around, rubbing against the girl-in-red's legs. Shortly after, however, a soft breeze ran through the ally. The scents it carried with it was interesting to say the least. Stopping, she flicked her tail and looked up the allyway, to meet the eyes of another wild animal. Its appearance said wolf, but its scent said something else as well. This didn't bother Nala, though. No, she was more focused on the fact that he looked quite hungry and tired -- she could see it in his eyes. With a soft mew, she trotted up the allyway and towards him. It was a daring move, no doubt. She didn't miss the fact that he could easily hurt her, but she hardly cared. This wouldn't be the first time she helped another animal in the city, either. Many times she had gotten food for someone else. She doubted these people would give her the correct kind of food anyway -- at least it wouldn't go to waste. Right now, she would befriend him, and then possibly help him. He was a good bit bigger than she was, but Nala wasn't afraid. Lifting her front legs up, she placed them on either side of his face and licked him on his forehead. Dropping back to the ground, she purred and rubbed against his side. Twirling back around, she went back over to the girl in red. Placing her front paws on her legs, Nala meowed. She knew her overall appearance was abnormal for being in the city, so she was very carefull with all she acted. Speaking was definitely a no-no, at this point.
But I Simply Cannot Do It Alone ooc: yay for random displays of affected oh, and sorry for the crapiness.... my laziness is quite bad xP

Let's Paint The Town [/blockquote] Ilia's face broke out into a smile as the cat rubbed against her fingers as they ran through the oddly soft and dark fur. But she couldn't help but wonder where the strangely sized cat had come from. No tags or other mark of ownership were on the cat and Aili took one look at her sister's face to guess that the childlike teenager wanted to keep this cat. Of course, this was out of the question. Not only was there no place where they lived (with the rest of Demonic Circus) but there was also no money to really support the cat. From what the girl in blue had gathered, pets like felines weren't pretty cheap. The girl in red continued to pet the cat until it went still and looked at something else.
Both girls stopped moving and looked at the wolf, wondering why both a strange cat and now a large wolf were in Obscur. Surely they weren't pets? Aili's eyes flickered to the cat as it moved forward, towards the wolf and away from her mirror image. The girl in blue watched with interest, unlike her sister whom eyes gleamed with sparkles of curiosity. Ilia felt like following the cat towards the wolf but held back that urge, knowing her sister would get angry. When the friendly cat licked the wolf and wasn't attacked, the blue clad girl wondered why exactly the cat wasn't afraid of being harmed. Most animals, like the birds from earlier, ran away from strange and dangerous things. So why was this strange cat getting so close to a canine that would bite its head off?
Ilia's thoughts were going in a different direction from her twin's. She didn't even wonder about why the kitty that she had been petting had gone over to the wolf. After all, if the wolf was mean it would have been killing or injuring other citizens of Obscur. So, by this thought process, Ilia came to the conclusion that the wolf was nothing to fear. When the cat came back to her and meowed at her, Ilia's smile brightened and she petted the cat once more before carefully moving the large cat's paws from her legs. "Wait a second, baby girl." the girl in red said, smiling before straightening up and carefully walking over to the wolf.
Aili didn't say anything, watching the wolf carefully. If he attacked her sister then the blue clad girl wouldn't hesitate to hurt him as well. But for now, she couldn't harm the animal or risk upsetting Ilia a great deal. By this point the young woman in red was right in front of the canine and still smiling. She crouched, her feet still on the alley's floor but about eye level with the wolf. A pale hand reached out to the wolf so he could also smell her. Ilia's other hand came to the side of his head and she felt the fur. "Hungry little guy?" she asked, smile still in place. Of course there wasn't anything 'little' about the wolf but it wasn't like she knew its name.

>WOLF< Shadow didn't know what to think of what was going for a few moments. It took him a little too long to register the fact that there were two female humans leaning over a crevice that he couldn't quite see into. At first, he failed to see what they were doing, but he realized very quickly that that was were the cat was. Why he was interested in this whole scene, he couldn't quit figure out himself, but he was intrigued.
His attention began to wane when the humans kept talking and nothing was happening. As he went to pull back, he saw the cat emerge, and, as he suspected, it wasn't normal. He had seen normal cats, and they didn't smell or look like this. Of course...his experience with them was limited, but...
The cat moved towards him. He didn't dare move as the humans' attention switched to him instead, instantaneously making him the center of attention. This was not part of the plan. The cat gave him away... And it was a brave thing too...or just plain stupid. Either way, it walked right up to him, stood up on his muzzle and licked his forehead. If he had been so stunned by the audacity of the cat, he would have attacked it, and torn it to shreds. Perhaps he really was looking bad.
He watched the cat without moving as it rubbed up against his black fur with its own. Again, the humans seemed to be watching the cat as much as him, and he didn't want the humans mad for killing something that they were interested in. He stood is ground for the moment, but was slowly losing his resolve. Affection and cuddling were not his thing, nor was attention from humans...and that was exactly what he got.
The cat moved back to the girls to his relief, but the girls didn't stop there. One approached him, brushing off the cat, smiling while she did so, and continued while she walked towards him. He really needed to work on his fear factor. They weren't afraid at all of the big bad wolf...stupid cat, he blamed it all on her. He had to wonder whether he should have attacked her.
Okay...so he was hungry, but this wasn't the way he wanted it. He looked out for himself... He didn't need humans asking after his needs...but whether he wanted it or not, Ilia approached him and crouched down before him. As she moved down to eye level, he considered attacking again, but he knew now that it really was too late. If he did, the other girl would go for help and his chances in this city would go from slim to none. He had to play along for now, whether he liked or not.
He obliged her with inhaling her scent, sniffing her hand curiously. He put the scent to memory, in case he needed it later. A sweet fragrance, like most female humans, but with her own unique spice to it-...a growl came unbidden to his throat as her other hand snuck up to his head from the side, touching his fur. His attention immediately focused on that hand, his eyes watching it closely. His growl quieted down, but it had more than likely done its damage.
He didn't like having humans touching him. He also didn't like them demeaning him by calling him little, chipping away at what little pride he had left, and also by asking after his needs. His fur bristled and then set again, pulling away from the woman's hand as he backed up.
His teeth showed for but a brief moment before he thought what he was doing over again. He sighed and dropped the angry facade and held his head and tail low, his ears drooping apologetically as he reached his muzzle out to the woman's hands again.

You May Think There's Nothing To ItNala obliged and hopped down. Sitting down, she licked her paw and ran it over her head in that cat-like way. Twitching her tail, she watched with mild interest. Twitching her tail, she crept up behind the girl and rubbed against her again, purring. After completing one loop, she quite boldly jumped onto her shoulders. Balancing quite precariously there, she watched the canine. It was obvious that he was quite uncomfortable with the attention he was getting, so she gave him a little wink of reassurance. Nala was quite aware that he probably didn't want help, but at this point, he needed it. The young cat didn't need any nourishment at this point, so it was an easy decision to try and get the girls affection to spread towards him as well. Looking around, she got down from her shoulders and walked to the other girl -- where she did the same thing. Every time she was around humans, she simply couldn't help herself. She loved to see things from that height. The girl in blue, however, wasn't nearly as kind as the other. That hardly mattered, though. Nala was no doubt exhibiting slightly off behavior, but these people already knew there was something odd about her. She could still see the wolf from here. Even though she didn't know him, it made her cringe to see how much it hurt to swallow the pride he obviously had. Nala, on the otherhand, had no problem taking hand outs. This may have had to do with the fact that she was still quite young, but also because she wasn't brought up to think any different. Jumping down (and probably taking a lot of weight off the girls shoulders in the process), she layed at her feet a flicked her tail back and forth. This was no doubt turning into a very interesting night -- well, morning. At this thought, she looked up into the sky. The sun was coming soon, at which point, Nala would have to disappear. When she had just recently fed, the sun wasn't normally a problem for her, but she did prefer to stay away from it. In the meantime, she stretched out on her side and rested on the cobblestones. She could already tell she would like these people, but would she stay with them? In the past she had trailed along with people for awhile, but always ended up on her own again. Sometimes due to misfortune, other times simply because she thought it was time to move on. Maybe she would follow along with them for awhile? What did she have to lose, anyway?

Let's Paint The Town [/blockquote] Ilia pouted slightly as the wolf growled at her. Strangely enough, she wasn't exactly frightened. Sure, she was afraid of spiders, the dark, and blood but that's because they were scary. The wolf in front of her, for the same reason as the cat, wasn't very scary. It was actually rare for the sixteen year old to be afraid of any sort of animal, no matter how dangerous they were. Well, insects were a different story. But we're talking about a wolf, not a creepy crawly, now aren't we?
Ilia retracted the fair skinned palms from the wolf and held them in front of her to show that she hadn't meant to threaten the wolf. "Sorry big guy. Hey, how about some food to make up for it?" the girl asked as the wolf dropped his irritation at her and reached out towards her with his muzzle. She smiled again and carefully petted the wolf's head with one hand. The cat jumped up onto the red clad girl's shoulder and Ilia laughed a bit, using her other hand to rub the cat behind the ears. Both the cat and wolf looked similar though their sizes differed greatly.
Aili watched uneasily but only moved forward when the wolf growled. She had only moved a few steps from her twin when the canine became friendly again, so the blue clad girl stopped moving there and watched as the cat jumped from her sister's shoulder only to rub against the standing girl and jump on her own shoulder. To say the least, Aili wasn't very pleased with the cat. She had nothing against animals, just that she didn't like most animals in general. She didn't move to knock the cat off and instead rubbed the cat behind one of her ears. The weight was removed as well only a few moments later and the teenager stretched her arms, wondering how long they had until the show much later once the sun had fallen below the horizon.
"Where do you think these animals came from Illy?" Aili asked, back to wondering. Her twin shrugged before taking a few pieces of dried jerky from her pocket and putting them on the stones in front of the wolf. Ilia then twisted her head back to look at the cat. "Hey baby girl, are you hungry too?" Ilia asked, knowing she still had jerky in her pocket. If the cat didn't want anymore, she would give the rest over to the wolf. But he needed more then jerky, right? "What else do you want to eat big guy?"

>WOLF< Shadow ignored the cat for the most part. She had gotten him in this mess in the first place, whether he was being promised food now or not. He hadn't wanted attention on him from the beginning. Stupid cat...
But now hat he had all this attention, he had best make use of it. He wondered when the humans would find out that he and the cat weren't what they appeared to be, and what they would do once that happened. He guessed there was nothing for it except to wait and see. They didn't know now, and he didn't plan on revealing himself anytime soon. He had food to eat.
He was glad that the girl had taken back her comment and praised him now with "big guy" instead of "little guy' and he was more than happy to take some food from her. He had gotten over his initial displeasure with the idea of being hand-fed by humans. It still bugged him, his pride wouldn't leave him alone, but he would keep himself restrained for now. He needed the food, he knew.
He was more lenient this time when Ilia pet him. While he wasn't used to it yet, he held himself still and forced himself to enjoy it, which wasn't that hard. He even added a very dog-like tail-wag of contentment.
He almost laughed when the other sister asked where they came from. While he may have been an animal, he wasn't what they thought he was. He was very much like them, just a little more feral, and a lot more proud. Well... It wasn't for him to judge the humans. They could do what they wanted, after all, he got free food out of the deal...and he was hungry.
He quickly snapped up the jerky after waiting patiently for the girl to lay it out for him on the concrete. Each piece was picked up and virtually swallowed whole, his hunger taking over for that brief moment. By the time she had turned to the cat, he was already done. When she turned to ask what else he wanted, he reached out with his muzzle and licked her cheek. If he were to try and tell her what he wanted, he would freak the life out of her. The best he could do was express that he liked what she had given him and that he wanted more of the same.
He wagged his tail and whined in a begging way.
He wasn't proud of it...
But he was hungry.
