The last glare of the sun was fading as the Captain of the Daikan Knights stood upon the balcony of his mansion next to the lake. He had actually went and attended a meeting today, even though he wasn't paying attention at all. Normally he wouldn't even bother to go. The only reason that Deveric was at the top of the Knights was merely because of his fighting skills. The majority of humans probably could not exterminate every person on a battlefield in less than a week, let alone a day. But Deveric wasn't human. He wasn't even orignally from this mortal realm. He was from Hell, where the Devil lived. Being here was only a punishment for neglecting duties, but he didn't care for his duties here either. It was all a bother. When will the pesterous humans just die already? That was a question he asked himself often.
As he sipped away at the wine darker than blood, Deveric scowled a bit. Why was he always stuck with stupid duties. Didn't anyone care about the joy of carefreeness and not being bound by work? It was all the same old thing, no matter in Heaven, Hell, or Xisin! As the last drop of alcohol disappeared down his throat, Deveric set his glass down and decided a walk in the cool night would be a good idea. To not go through all the trouble of exiting out the front door, Deveric decided that tonight was okay for a stretch of wings. As soon he willed them, black leathery wings extended out of his back and he soared off his balcony and out into the starlit night.
The air was cool and made him wish that Hell could feel like this sometimes. Heat was always something that irrated him. Deveric landed softly upon the ground and withdrew his wings. If word that he was a Demon got out, then his career would go poof (not that he cared) and his punishment would definitely be more severe.
Deveric strolled along, not caring to look at anything in particular. All he wanted to do now was to enjoy the serene night and the shimmering moonlight cast upon him. It was only times like these where no duty, no obligation, no limits, were forced on him that he felt at ease. Happy? Nah. Such shallow human emotions were meaningless. It would take a lot to impress someone who has been alive for several centuries. Deveric had been disguised as a human for longer than he could remember, (well he could but he deemed it pointless and didn't bother to), but the fact that he had always maintained the same appearance and strength had definitely caused some curiosity. Of course, those who had asked never got an answer. When Deveric was in a relatively positive mood, the inquiry would be ignored; but when he wasn't feeling all too well, well, the voices that asked wouldn't be heard again.
But for now, he wasn't in the mood to kill. This night seemed to be calming and may motivate him to participate in a meeting in the next two weeks or so. Of course, unless there was some unseemly disturbance...

'Bang' popped a gun in the distance. The irritating stars lit up the sky as Alex was out practicing his shot. He wanted total darkness so he could improve at shooting blind shots but the stars seemed to light the ground up. He decided to take a walk around the blood color stained lake as a hint of the moon glimmered off it. As he walked different object were appearing in front of him like a magician and his hat. Paper flowers were sprouting out of the ground where he walked
Approaching the end of the lake he noticed someone off in the distance. "When did he get here. I didn't see him before." Alex rolled behind a tree and peered around it. The man walked closer to Alex with each step. As he was about to walk past the tree a giant wall appeared in front of the man. Then a second later a second, a third, and a fourth sprouted up all around him leaving only the top open. Alex called to the man inside his box. "Who dares walk these grounds this time of night?" Alex's curiosity overwhelmed him and he climbed the tree and looked inside his creation.
It was the captain of the Daikan Knights. A dark thought dawned in Alex's mind. He could capture the distraught captain and hold him for ransom. It was a perfect way to make some money. Alex then repeated himself. "Who dares walk these grounds?"

Walls sprang up, surrounding Deveric, but he was not worried. A challenging voice rang from above, demanding his identity. Tilting his head up slowly, Deveric found a fox peering down at him. "May I ask what kind of fool are you taking me for?" Deveric spoke calmly, his tongue articulating each syllable precisely. "Your face shows it and you know very well who I am. Thus, I do not feel the need to introduce myself." The demon was facing the wall in front of him again and tapped it with his finger, chipping off quite healthy amounts of rock each time. "Seriously, if you thought this could hold me, then you're unfortunately wrong.
Deveric shoved his palm into the wall, deliberately pushing it over. His nocturnally amplified strength was useful at times like these. Now that the impediment was out of the way, it was now beneath his concern. Deveric disdainfully stepped over the fallen wall the continued with his walk. Whatever that fox tried, well, he wasn't going to worry about that. His positive mood he had earlier on was greatly diminished and all Deveric wanted to do now was to go back to his mansion and sleep off the last of his lingering irritation. He then stopped and turned back toward the fox, as if expecting something from him. But his gaze only held for a few seconds and he turned back to make his way around the bloody lake.

Alex was impressed but not amazed by his strength. He had seen this before. This strength. He knew it could only be one thing. He must be a demon. "Well you could come with me or i could reveal to everyone who you really are." He thought this would be a great way to intrigue the young looking knight. He preceded to follow the knight and walk around the knight. He stopped making objects appear because he was starting to grow weary because of the walls he had produced.
"I have an interesting offer." Alex proclaimed. "I can take you back to my place and hold you for ransom. This might not sound to appealing but hear me out. If you come home with me and I hold you for ransom we both can become very rich very quick. Imagine how much they would pay to get you back. We could split this profit say 60/40 and if you don't come with me i will tell everyone who you really are." Alex thought there was no way he could pass up this offer. He couldn't possibly let himself become known as a demon. This knight could become violent but why risk dying and the chance to become very wealthy. "What do you say?"

Deveric was surprised at the fox's deduction. To guess that he was a demon and actually voicing it out, not to mention threatening him with it. Whatever. Deveric didn't want to waste the time and effort to deny it. "Since you know what I am, then know this: I really have no personal interest in human money. The salary I get now is already big enough." He kept walking without looked at the fox bounding alongside him. "However, your little threat irks me just a bit. Perhaps I'll play along with you. However what causes me to hesitate would be the damage to my reputation. I can only maintain this post because everyone is convinced of my power. How would they feel if one of their strongest men could be kidnapped like that?"
But Deveric did not want to risk getting his identity out. That would be the end of his carefree walks and if you thought punishment in the mortal world was harsh, wait until Hell's wrath to fall upon you. Sure, as a Demon, he was plenty stronger than humans, but among other demons, he could only be counted above average rather than the top. The fox before him should be an easy kill, but bloodshed could lead to other consequences. "If it's money you want, perhaps I could spare a bit of generosity and twirk your plan just a bit to get your money. Change it so the conditions will be more in my favor. If you do that, all the prize money or ransom will be yours."

"Well i don't know what else we could do. Hmm wait. Here is an idea. You have poison and if you want the antidote i will need to be paid a hefty prize. Even the strongest of human warriors can be poisoned." He thought this was a great idea. Alex could get paid and the guy could keep his reputation up and Alex wouldn't even have to deal with the army. This was a proposition that no one could turn down. Alex knew this guy was a demon because he spent all his life hunting demons. It was his job. His secret job.
"Tell your commander that you have been poisoned. Tell him that he needs to come up with quite a good amount of money if he wants the antidote. Ill leave the amount up to you guys but i don't suggest going lightly on the amount and I want you to leave it by this tree at noon tomorrow. If the amount is enough I will leave a purple colored water by this tree in the next hour. If you fail to produce the money by noon tomorrow your reputation will be destroyed and you will have to deal with your fellow demon's in hell."
Alex then waved his hands and a horse appeared in front of him. He hopped onto the horse and rode away without another word, not giving the knight a chance to speak.

Hm... Poison? I guess that'll work." Deveric mumbled to himself as the fox galoped off. Wings fluttered and Deveric was on his way back to his mansion. He crept into his room, relieved that no one had come in while he was gone, and smashed his wine glass upon the floor. Quickly, Deveric put on a grimace and started to groan. A couple of servants came rushing up to his room after hearing the crash. "Milord! What happened?" They cried. "I've been p-poisoned." Deveric stuttered. "I know a man with the antidote! Write to my superiors and get the largest sum of money possible from them! NOW!" He barked, almost losing his facade. "Tell them if the money isn't here by tomorrow noon, I'll die!"
His servants cringed a little and said, "But, milord, letters don't go that fast!" Deveric rolled his eyes and spat at the man, "Then run your little legs off and tell them or I'll make sure you die before I do!" "Y-yes, sir!" And with that the man ran off. Deveric laid back on his bed and watched as the rest of the servants cleaned up the broken glass and tended to him. "Just leave. I need to rest." He mumbled and turned over to sleep. That fox was suspicious. To guess that he was a demon and know that he didn't want his identity known. Maybe he'll confront the fox tomorrow, but Deveric might not feel like it. Whatever. As long as that fox was out of his life.
The next morning as the sun let out its first ray of light, the servant that Deveric had sent off returned, obviously exhausted, with a large wagon of coins and thick wads of billa. Deveric nodded his head, contented, and waved the man off, who collapsed on the ground. "Stay here and I'll go purchase the antidote. Anyone who follow is going to get it!" Deveric growled, brandishing his left arm menacingly and leaving the servants gaping (isn't he poisoned?). Then, with one hand he dragged the cart off back to the tree the fox had indicated. It was difficult as the sun had rose and Deveric's power was cut. Nevertheless, he was still stronger than normal humans by a good measure.
By the time he got to the tree, it was very nearly noon. "Fox, if you're here, here's the money you want."

Out from the trees called a voice "Shouldn't you be in bed poisoned?" Alex laughed at his own comment. He wasn't completely ready to leave yet. "So how come you didn't kill me last night. Why spare me and lose all this money?" Alex thought this to be an obvious question. Why did the man spare him. Someone of so much power had to of thought he could kill a mortal being.
Alex jumped down from the tree across the lake and gradually made his way over to the demon. Standing only 10ft from this demon who Alex knows is weak in daylight he laughs. "Well why don't you walk over to that tree there and pick up your antidote and ill be on my way after you answer my question.
Alex smirked at the though of him commanding this demon. A captain of the knights and he was acting like his puppet master. Just think Alex would have this guy on his string for the rest of his stay here on our dear planet.

So the fox was here... "Whatever. I'm a bad actor, 'kay?" Deveric strutted over and towered over the fox. "And why didn't I kill you? Well, I didn't feel like it. I hate to think ahead and crap so I do whatever is on my mind. That money is nothing, anyways. Like I said, human money means nothing to me. They're going to all go extinct someday so what's the point? Anyway, that load of junk isn't even from my own wallet, so why should I care?" Deveric decided that his existence here was now pointless and that he should was better off doing something else. Of course, he didn't mean for whatever he was going to do to be productive or anything, he was just going to do something he felt like doing. "I'll be taking my leave now, foxy." Deveric carelessly waved his blade a bit and he started off, his chains clinking by his side.
