There was a small herd of deer fleeing as fast as they could through the thick tree's and bushes. Their eyes were full of fear like they were being hunted by something they knew they wouldn't be able to escape from. Yet there was no noise coming from behind them. Zane was following the deer's scent perfectly, and although he was faster than them, he was running a little behind them. He was leading them to an area where there were no humans. Because right now, there were a few not far from his and Vanessa's current position. He didn't want to get them involved when he started to feed, because he knew that he may end up attacking them as well as the deer.
As soon as the humans were out of range, Zane pounced on deer after deer, snapping their necks with his hands with ease, and as each deer feel dead on the ground, he jumped onto the back of another and it too suffered the same fate. When it came to hunting deer, Zane was a pro. He did it quickly and as humanely as possible, he didn't want the deer to suffer any more than he had to, and he always killed them before feeding on them. So that they would feel no torturing pain, and so that they would not become vampuric deer. Though, Zane found the idea quite funny himself.
Once all of the herd were dead, Zane neatly piled all of the bodies up and stood next to it while he waited for Vanessa, his hunting partner for the day, to join him. ”Geez, you're so slow!” He mocked her teasingly, but was only playing with the vampire who was younger than he was.

Vanessa sighed in exasperation as she watched Zane run after the deer, making sure that he got them far enough away from the humans before he killed them. It was a smart idea indeed, but why did it have to take so long? She really didn't like having to feed at all, but she had to, so she wanted to get this over with as fast as she could. But, she slowed down for some reason as she watched Zane push ahead as he followed the deer. She wasn't tired, so why had she slowed down?
It was then that she found out the reason. There, not far to the right of her, was a doe that was giving birth to her young. But, the deer seemed to sense her as she began to bleat in panic. She couldn't run away, as she was into much pain. This really struck Vanessa for some reason and really made her sad deep down. She wished she wasn't such a dangerous creature that scared everything but other vampires. She wished she wasn't some blood sucking demon that couldn't survive without the precious red rubies.
With one more sad look towards the poor doe, she ran off again to find her hunting companion, hiding her deep feelings of sadness so that her hunting partner wouldn't see how much that one thinghad effected her. Soon, she came upon the sight of Zane, standing in all his glory over a group of dead deer. I am not slow! I just take my time because I feel like enjoying the scenery, Vanessa exclaimed in idignation. Did you really have to kill this many, the younger vampire questioned. But, she knew the answer was yes. Though she didn't like it, animal blood wasn't as filling and it took more of it than that of a humans to satisfy their hunger. With a heavy sigh, she moved towards one of the poor deer, making a prayer for it before beginning to feed.
After she had consumed all the blood that the carcass contained, she whipped the remains of the droplets that covered her lips before turning towards Zane. After drinking the blood of one, she liked to wait awhile before going after another one. It was just a habit she had picked up and kept since she was once human. And so, she had nothing to do as she waited to amount of time before she decided to feed a bit more.

”Take in the scenery?” Zane chuckled ”Haven't you seen it billions of times before?” Zane smiled as he watched Vanessa feed, he loved the little prayer that she did before sinking her fangs into the animal. She really was more human than vampire, no. Vanessa was more Evlish. Only the Elves would perform this sort of ritual, as they were so noble. Zane had stayed with the Elves once and he loved everything about them. They were so graceful and so awe inspiring. They knew almost everything about anything, and their ways of combat was as beautiful as the language that they speak. It was with the Elves that Zane trained, he practised their techniques and their ways, he even knew how to speak their language. Which was why he could do a few magic spells, it's also why Zane is so strong and fast.
Zane slowly moved towards one of the dead deer and closed his eyes. He pulled the deer carefully towards him as he very slowly kissed the neck of the deer, and then recited some old Evlish says, in Elvish, and placed his hand to the deer's heart as he slowly sank his fangs into it's neck and began feeding. The trickle of blood soothed his burning throat as he fed and he smiled, although he hatted feeding, it also calmed him. Because if he didn't feed, the monster inside of him threatened to get out, and nobody wanted that. When Zane was finished with this deer, he carefully laid it on the ground next to him, in a manor that made it look like it was sleeping on it's side. His Goldeny pupils then turned back to Vanessa and he smiled. ”We'll have to stop hunting on deer soon.” He was hoping that his statement would need no explanation. Vanessa should know his ways by now.
Zane's eyes then turned to the brilliant blue sky above them, he could only vaguely see it through the canopy of leaves. But he liked what he could see, there was very little cloud. Though he knew that for some, this would be quite a bother, it would be a bother for him if he had been in the city right now. But he wasn't, which meant he didn't have a hoard of women all staring in lust and awe at him because of his perfect, glowing skin. Zane sighed slightly, and then turned his head to a tweeting bird in a nest not far from him and Vanessa. At least one animal had stuck around to be with the vampires. Zane guessed that it was a mother feeding her chicks, which would explain why they had not fed. Chicks can't fly until they are much older. Much like a vampire can't control it's first until it's at least a few years old. Zane chuckled again because of his comparison of a bird and a vampire.

Vanessa watched as her companion fed, being very carefully with the deer, even though the creature was already dead. She knew how much he hated feeding, as she did. Especially on the innocent blood of the animals. But, it stopped them from feeding on humans, which was an even worse thing for her to think about. The very thought of giving in to the human bloods' temptation made her feel sickened. She couldn't help feeling like a monster when she sometimes thought of it. No, she never thought of it. The vampire of her thought of it. And it was the true monster; the being inside her very self that she fought a desperate battle with every minute of every day. Sure, she tended to win, but sometimes it won that battle. It was at those times that Vanessa truly felt despicable.
One who knew her could always tell when she had lost the battle to her senses, as she wouldn't come out of her room for days, moaping in a state of depression and self loathing. Shaking her head to rid herself of these darker thoughts, she focused once more on Zane as he spoke, saying something about hunting deer, something about ending it soon. She didn't quite get his motive, but she could only assume that it was because they would begin to injure the population numbers and the humans, the hunters, would begin to notice soon. What else could they hunt?
After she thought about the question, she turned her attention back to Zane, who was currently looking off into space somewhere to her left. Looking behind her, she noticed a mother feeding her baby birds. With a soft expression towards the tiny family of animals that couldn't leave the area ofdeath, a tiny smile, she turned back towards Zane, hoping he would be able to pay attention to her while she talked. So, what shall we hunt instead? I'm thinking some bears and bobcats would be an interesting flavor and challenge, she voiced, wincing a bit at the thought of hunting bobcats. She really loved animals, especially the cat family. The very thought of hurting them wasn't very pleasing to her.
