>Human<
It wasn't real. He knew it wasn't, but it was hard to grasp, to fight. Weakness, thoughts from his past resurfacing, his normally tough facade shattering to reveal the one before the attack. The fearful little boy, his parents dead and gone. It was a fight he had been winning ever since that day he had decided he wasn't going to be scared anymore. That he was what he was and if anyone wanted to try and hurt him again, he would show he wasn't to be messed with.
But now the fight took a turn for the worse, his limbs weakening and his muscles failing underneath him. Shadow knew little more than Levi, only that, when he was angry, really angry, his memory seemed to warp, and at other times vanish completely. This weakness after was unusual, but it had a nasty habit of occurring every time his memory seemed to fade.
There was nothing for it, he had to fight, no matter what it was he was fighting. That was all he knew how to do. He drew his mind back, his thoughts wrapping around the core of hatred and loathing he had built to sustain himself. He blinked, tensing and untensing his muscles and finally brought his eyes to Levi again.
A change of clothing, a change of heart. Levi was right. A wolf would not go down well with his family or with the guards for that matter. While Shadow preferred the wolf over being a human, he knew that he had little choice. He shifted then, rising a moment later as a human. He straightened his coat and glared around the room for a moment, his gaze resting on the entrance from where the messenger had first come in.
"You won't need to." Shadow clenched and unclenched his fists, satisfied that the weakness had gone away. Another moment had Shadow glancing over his shoulder at the boy again, his eyes narrowed. "Why am I here?" He ignored the collar for the time being, he doubted the prince would try anything, not while Shadow could very easily bridge the distance between them with but a movement.
