Sora had a slight frown on his face as he walked across the strangely colored ground. It was a rusty blood-like color. The stench of death was thick even though no battles had been fought in a long while. Bodies, old and already only bones as well as ones that still were decaying, littered the ground randomly. The ground and bodies also had a thin layer of frost on them, the summoner's breaths appearing in puffy white clouds.
It was just after sunset and appeared like it would snow later. It was a quarter moon and Sora looked up to see the stars. Unknown to most, the summoner actually loved the night sky. His mother used to tell him about an old friend she had had who made fireworks, which were explosions of color in the night sky. The blond zoned out slightly, staring up at the sky as he walked.
And suddenly Sora's face was zooming towards the frosty ground. He cried out in surprise, catching himself with his hands and knees. He looked back, seeing a severed arm. A few shivers ran up his spine and the blond went to stand, a sharp pain running from his ankle. Sora winced and lifted his pants leg to see it swelling a purple color for some reason. Had he really just twisted his ankle?
Sora, as determined as ever, tried to get up and stand. He fell back down, the pain sharper when he tried to put any weight on it. But he couldn't just stay there and try to sleep on the blood-splattered ground! A small frown made its way back to the summoner's face. It hurt. Then his face suddenly lit up with an idea. There was someone that he could bother. With a smug look, Sora closed his eyes and concentrated on calling out to a certain demon.

Reiga sat in his room within his manson reading a book. He had finally gotten some time to relax and was going to take it. He had spent the whole day dealing with other demons. Some that wanted to talk to him and others who wanted to kill him and take his spot. After he had gotten this spot by killing other demon. Such action caused him to have many enemies and he knew that. He even was careful when he hired demons as his staff to take care of his house. It was an annoying day, but something he was used to. He turned the page to his book again reading the next page. The book itself as just something he had picked up when he was visiting a book store in Xisin. He just wanted to read it to pass the time. After all there was only so much one could do before everything got boring.
When he first heard the summon he closed the book and sighed. The kid was summoning him again. He made the book into a card and slid it away. He hoped that it would stop soon hoping that the kid was calling him on a whim. After all the kid had done so in the past. However when the the call continued he knew that he was going to be able to go. He got up and grabbed his jacket. He put it on and made his way to the center of the room. He was going to have to open a portal and he did not want to take something with him. He did not want to carry more cards than necessary. He quickly checked which weapons he had on him. He had four sets. Three blades and one bow and arrow set. He was going to have to go to and see the kid. He just hoped that he was for a good reason and not just because he was bored.
He opened the portal and appeared in front of Sora. He was still in his demon form so people could notice he was not just any other human. He had not taken the time to take human form and he did not want to change. Most people were not willing to challenge a demon. He saw Sora on the ground and knelt down. He had not seen anyone else around. It looked like the kid had called him for a stupid reason again. If he allowed his anger to show he would be trying to harm the kid, but he held himself back. "Why did you call me? You do not seem like you are in danger. Did you miss me that much." He looked at him and smiled. He better have a good explanation for this..

Sora sat on the cold ground, feeling the the frost begin to melt under him. A few moments later, a familar figure appeared and kneeled in front of the summoner. And Reiga hadn't even bothered to in his human form. But the demon hadn't rushed to his summoner of course, as he never did. After all, Reiga was wearing a jacket for the cold weather. The temperature had dropped a few degrees, clouds crowding each other in the sky.
Sora didn't really know how to explain that he had tripped over a severed limb, twisted his ankle, and now couldn't walk. Well, now that he thought about it, that was a pretty good way to explain. "I twisted my ankle and now I can't walk. Most of my other demons are fire related so they can't come in this cold weather." the blond said, sticking out his tongue for a moment. The last part, unknown to Reiga, was actually a lie.
Sora actually had a wide range of demons to summon. Some were even perfect to call in this weather. But Reiga was the most fun to bother of course. As if to prove his reason for summoning the demon, the blond carefully moved his leg and lifted his pants leg slightly to show him the quickly swelling ankle that was still a purple color. It hurt like crazy and would hurt more if he tried to get up again.

Reiga looked at Sora keeping the smile on his face, but his thoughts were not with the smile. He was angry. The kid had called him because he injured his leg. It was taking him all his strength to keep himself from yelling at the kid. He was not there to help him walk he was there to help him fight and things similar and yet this kid called him for everything. He had to enjoy doing this. He tilted his head at Sora. "And you do not want to spend the night here. What makes you think I can help you. You know that I am not good at anything physical."
Of course he was lying. He could fight, but he used his skill with weapons and not his strength. When it came to strength he had that of a human. He told himself that he was not going to carry the kid. It was not his fault he was not careful when he was walking in a battle ground. His mind paused when he thought of a battleground. The kid had summoned him to a place where death had occurred before. What was the kid thinking. Bring him here filled with the stench of death and blood. Did he really want to annoy him. He got up and made his way to the kids ankle. Two could play at this game and he knew how to make it look like an accident.
He knelt down by the ankle and looked at it. He did not touch it yet. After all he did not want it to look intentional. He always wondered how humans could deal with healing so slowly. The leg looked terrible and he guessed that it hurt even worse. "You humans should be more careful when you are walking around. You injure so easily. I do not want my master calling me every time he was injured." He stressed the word master making sure that the kid knew he was not happy with doing this. After all who heard of a demon of his rank getting tricked into a contract. He then went to pick up the foot from underneath to examine it more clearly. Of course he was planning to grab it tightly on the injured spot. After all he was not used to being around injured humans. He did not go out of his way to tend to other people's wounds or even carry a first aid kit in his collection.

Sora opened his mouth in fake surprise at Reiga's first statement. "Could it be that the highest ranking demon I know could be weak? Oh gosh, I didn't even know." gushed the blond in a fake voice of innocence and surprise. Of course, the demon in front of him was actually one of the most powerful demons the summoner had signed a contract with. But Sora wasn't going to actually admit that to Regia.
When Reiga grabbed his foot tightly, a feline-like noise of pain came from Sora's mouth. Then, through the pain, the summoner glared at demon. If one looked at him too long they could actually imagine cat ears on his head, which would be swiveled backwards and crushed to his hair. Some people could even imagine a long cat's tail behind the boy, moving back and forth in anger.
"I'm not a human. I'm a mutt." said the summoner, clearly not very happy. with his demon "servant". Sora pulled his foot away from the demon, causing himself more pain then needed but didn't care. "And I'm not weak or anything." the blond said, mood becoming darker. His ankle was throbbing by now and Sora could tell that he would have to get it at least wrapped in bandages before resting anywhere.
Sora, not very happy at all by his luck, decided that he didn't need the demon's help. Still glaring, the blond let out something close to a "hmpf" of an angry feline. "Nevermind, I'll just do it on my own." the summoner declared, looking away from Reiga. He put his hands to the ground and shakily stood up, forgetting of his injury for just a moment. He began to fall back to the frosty ground, the throbbing in his ankle reminding him that yes, he was weak.

Reiga caught Sora as he fell back to the ground. It was obvious that right now he could not walk and only trying was going to aggravate the injury. He held him up making sure he could still stand on his uninjured leg. He placed his head on his shoulder. "Sorry I forgot you were not human. It was slip of the tongue." He did not awlays call him human, just when the kid reminded him of humans. Which was quite often. "And I never called you weak. Just easy to injure. If you were weak I would just kill you and be on my way." He could kill him, but he preferred to be released. After all the kid had been smart enough to summon him, he had to have tricks to stop him from getting killed. He was not going to risk his life. After all the kis would die before he did.
He was not going to let the kid free so easily. He had summoned him and now he was telling him that he was not needed. "If you really need my help you an order me. You know I can not refuse your orders. After all I am contracted to you." He hated being ordered but it looked like the kid was going to cause more injuries to himself before he admitted he needed help again. With no kit to treat his injuries that could prove to be very dangerous. To Reiga, this was the fastest way to get him to say what he needed and he could go back home and return to his reading. He bit his lip when he thought that he was worried for this kid. He was nothing, just an blimp in his life. And he was going to to make this as hard as possible for him.
He started to think of ways to make Sora even more annoyed. Maybe then he would release the contract. After who needed to be with a demon that caused only trouble. He smiled when a few ideas crossed his mind. However most of them he could not do right now. "So, what are you going to do. Want me to let you go or you going to order me to help you. After I want to know if I can go back home." He kept himself close to Sora letting his body heat warm him up. After all it was cold outside, not that it bothered him. He had enough clothing on him and more he could summon if he needed it.

Sora closed his eyes, waiting for the impact against the cold ground. Instead a sudden stop and a source of warmth greeted the summoner. He opened his mismatched eyes to find Reiga holding him up and the demon's head on his shoulder. "I'm not anything like a human. They're beings that think they're superior to everyone else and think people with mixed blood like me are scum." Sora said, glaring down at the ground.
Humans would be the death of this land in Sora's eyes. Just like they had been to this once beautiful place. His mother had told him of tales before the battles, when this was a sanctuary. Now all it was a place that proved of human's greed and their bloodlust. Most people thought his mother to be human and didn't understand why the summoner felt this way. But Sora knew that his mother had been like him, a mutt with mixed blood.
"I don't want to order you. Unlike lower demons, you are actually a person." Sora said, gaze softening and no longer glaring at the ground. He had calmed down a bit, the warmth from Reiga making him feel slightly better. It reminded him of his family, mostly because of his trail of thoughts. He snapped from his thoughts and his gaze hardened again, becoming stubborn once again.
He could reach a town or city on his own. Sora didn't need help from Reiga. "Stay or leave, I don't care. I can take care of myself." the blond said, raising his gaze to the horizon. It was quickly getting later and only a matter of time before it began to either hail or snow. But the summoner didn't make a move, trapped by Reiga's hold.

Reiga's smile disappeared. It looked like Sora was going to be like this. Was it really that hard to ask for help. It was not like he was admitting he was weak. But if he did not want his help who was he to force him. He placed the kid on the ground carefully. He stepped away from him. If he was not going to order to help him then he was not going to help. He walked down and knelled in front of him. "You know I was once one of those demons. Well rank wise. I worked up to this spot. And then you started to summon me and ruined my peaceful life." He had not meant to say that last part out loud but it came out. He spread his wings out letting them stretch. It bothered him to keep them still for a long time.
He stayed there looking at Sora. He was not going to leave yet. The area around him was filled with to many corpses and it bothered him. When he traveled between his home and to where Sora was he often took something with him by accident. He blinked his eyes and got up. He was so vulnerable right now, and it could be easy. Take him out and then he would be free of him. Yet he held himself back again. He was not going to do it. He pulled out a card. On it was a spare jacket he had in case it got too cold. He threw it to the kid and as he did it returned to it's original form. "That should keep you warm, though if it snows it might soak through eventually. I expect it back next time you summon me." He turned around and made his way further from the kid. If he did not want him here he was going to leave. Or at least pretend.
He started the spell to return home. Until he said the last word he would remain in front of Sora and still able to remain. He looked to him. "Last chance. And let's make this clear. Do not call me just to send me back. You might miss me, but I still have business to attend to." The portal still stood open waiting for the key to his door. The one word that would let him go home, the one word Reiga had yet to say. The portal let out a small wind trying to hurry the caster to make a choice. He was hoping he would not say anything and he could go home. He had no obligation to help him if he did not want help. He was not going to go out of his way to be nice.

Sora let himself be lowered to the ground, wondering if he really could get himself out of this realm of death. Common sense told him that no, he would be stuck here like the dumbass he was. And freezing or worsening his injury wasn't on the blond's to do list. He listened to Reiga, wondering why the other lower demons he summoned didn't think. They just liked to attack things. So why did some demons that were higher rank actually think?
Sora wondered if he could use his KeyBlades to help himself. They were different heights though. And the summoner didn't want Reiga to know about them, just in case one day he tried to attack him. Even if they didn't look like it, the KeyBlades were actually very sharp and very about to impale things. But the demon in front of him was Sora's most powerful and was a contract that he didn't wish to break it. Then he would be left with much lower demons, though still being high enough to have sanity.
The summoner caught the jacket with ease, looking up at Reiga. His mind seemed to be having a war against itself. One said to let the demon leave, to reach shelter on his own. The other said to admit that he needed help. Even if it was Reiga, did Sora really want to burden the demon with his clumsy self? Sora opened his mouth and what stumbled out of his mouth seemed to surprise the male as well.
"Please help Reiga." Sora asked, looking up at said demon. His common sense cheered while his pride seemed a bit hurt, not liking to have to ask help from someone that probably wanted the summoner to leave him alone. He was actually surprised that Reiga had never tried to attack or kill him. After a moment, Sora's eyes seemed to take an interest in the frosty ground which he sat on. He wouldn't be surprised if the demon left him there regardless of him asking for help.

The spell disappeared around Reiga when he heard Sora speak. However, he did not move. He kept his distance not moving. So he had asked for his help, but he did not say with what. It was a small victory for him. He told himself. One step at a time and he would get what he wanted. He crossed his arms and looked at the kid. What surprised him the most was that he said his name. Though this whole time he head not said Reiga's name. Which reminded him. He had not even greeted him when he arrived. He had been the one that was summoned, so the kid should say hello first. He smiled hiding his anger again. Sora did not need to see he was angry.
"Help, with what? Do you want me to start a fire, or keep you warm by hugging you. You need to specific." He knew that the kid wanted help walk. After the kid could not stand on his own. He sighed thoughts going through his head. It would have been so much easier if he was willing to order him. Then again he could care less. Even when ordered he was still able fill the order as he liked. The issue was that he did not want to carry the kid. He did not know how long he would be able to do that. It was not like they were at the edge of the battle field. It could take some time before they got out and then where would they go. It was not like he knew about the whole area. This place was not his home so he did not care.
He finally walked closer to Sora. He knelled beside him. Something he was getting used to by now. He poked Sora on his shoulder. "So what do you want?" He smiled stopping himself from saying that the kid needed his help. He was bound to start the whole I do not need your help phase again. "And please do not say you want me to help you die." Of course he knew that the kid would not say that, but he still wanted to say it out loud and see his reaction. He wanted to be amused to hide his anger at Sora and his actions so far. After all he did not know how long his self restraint could last him if the kid continued to act like this. After all the last time he had been in a contract he had been the one in control since the human that had summoned him was too weak to fight back.

Sora heard the portal close and wondered if the demon was still there or if he had left. His eyes stayed on the ground. The summoner had never said Reiga's name, only when he had made the contract. It had sounded a bit strange when he had said it, the name forgein to the blond. It was a unique name as well, unlike Sora which could be common in some cities.
The summoner's eyes widened as he heard Reiga's voice and he looked up at him, wondering why he had stayed. It's not like he had ordered or told him to stay. The demon didn't really have a reason to stay. Another thing that ran through the male's head was why the demon didn't strike him down at that moment. He was weak and couldn't move very well. And Reiga was probably faster at attacking then Sora was at summoning his KeyBlades.
His eyes returned to their normal size only after a moment. The blond didn't ask either of his questions, focusing on one thing at a time. "I want you to help me walk to a town or city..." The summoner trailed off, another internal arguement starting up. Sora quickly silenced the war. "...please, Reiga." he finished, cheeks red from the cold and from the weakness he felt towards the demon in front of him.
Sora was back to himself in a moment and stuck his tongue out of Reiga. "Why would I want to die? It would be too easy on you." the summoner stated, a mischevious look on his face. Yes, the male knew that the demon in front of him wanted his "master" to die. "And we both know you would miss me, your little 'master'~" He joked, knowing very well that Reiga wouldn't give him another thought after he had passed away.

Reiga could not help but step back in his position when he heard his name said again. He was not used to hearing it coming from Sora's mouth and it was leaving him without anything to say. The worst part was that he wondered if the kid knew how much power it meant to say his name when they were under contract. He was not going to say anything, he was not going to help the kid know everything about him. He got up and looked down at Sora. Getting to the nearest inhabited area was going to be a challange and he was still not sure if he could do it. It would leave him defenseless. He smiled at the kid and then flapped his wings. "I'm not carrying you. My arms are reserved for females. However I can help you stay balanced as you walk."
He then took his human form. His wings disappeared and his other demonic features returned to normal. The last thing he need was to enter a city and get attacked by another because he was a demon. "I would miss you kid." After all he would use him as a reminder to not get tricked ever again. He would consider this time as a learning experience. Not that he was going to tell the kid how he felt. They both knew what he wanted and Reiga knew the only way he could get it and he refused to do it. Though he sometimes wondered if getting a stronger demon to have a contract with the kid would allow him to escape.
He held out his hand towards Sora offering it so that he could get up again. He was not going to baby him. If he wanted to get to an inhabited area he was going to have to work to get there. After all he refused to order him around. "I'm so glad you finally remembered my name kid. I was wondering when you were going to start calling me by my name." He was not going to call Sora by his name if he could help it. He was still a kid trying to grasp at things that were out of his reach. and until other wise that was what he was going to call him. A kid. It was better than the other names that demons called those they made contracts with.

Sora didn't know how close they were to any place with people but a feeling in his stomach told him that it probably wasn't very close. After all, the summoner had never had any good luck. Apparently his father's good luck had skipped over the blond, him getting his mother's luck instead. That and why would anyone want to be close to such a place? Sure, people used even live here. But the summoner was pretty sure that no one totally sane would step foot on this land unless they really had to. So why was Sora here? He couldn't really remember.
The male faked a scoffing noise at the demon's first statement. "Oh yes, because I surely want to be carried by you." Sora joked, suddenly wondering how old Reiga was. He shook the thought away, not very interested in the demon's personal life. Neither of them really needed to know anything about each other.
"Hm? Why would you miss me? And I'm not a kid! I'm nineteen." the summoner said, sticking his tongue out at Reiga at the last sentence. Most people thought him to be younger for his stature was a bit smaller then most males his age. Sora took the demon's offered hand, pulling himself up carefully and using Reiga to balance, his injured ankle throbbing lightly as it stayed above the ground.
To tell the truth, Sora hadn't ever forgotten the demon's name. "I've always known your name. Just didn't feel like using it. And I'm not a kid." the blond said, not liking being called kid. Even if Reiga didn't use his name, the older male didn't need to call him kid. He shifted his weight lightly, wondering how fast they could move with one of them (him) hobbling even if he had support keeping him balanced.

Reiga kept Sora supported as they started to make their way to the nearest village. Well at least it was the nearest village he could think of. It would not take long to get there and once they were there he could leave the kid to be taken care of and he could go home. He kept the pace slower than the speed he wanted, but he was sure that Sora would not want to talk at his normal speed. He was just going to have to take it slow, for now. He smiled when the thought about speeding up later. Oh how many idea were going to his head again. He stopped his thoughts not wanting to end up doing something he might regret much later.
"You are a kid to me. Come back when you are at least 30 and maybe then I will stop calling you kid." Though he doubted it. Compared to Reiga this kid was only an infant. Reiga had lived long enough to witness many wars and to influence some to start. This kid had no idea how terrifying Reiga could be. It was easier to act the way he was right now, then act like he normally did when he was in hell. He like it when it was peaceful and if he had to act he would do it. Plus he did not Sora to see what he was capable. He had no desire to reveal his secrets to the kid. Not before he knew the kids secrets. "As for why I would miss you. Because you are adorable."
He was lying and he guessed that Sora knew, but he wanted to keep the kid wondering why he was not trying to kill him. After all he was so defenseless right now. "And you are not that easy to dominate. My last master was my puppet till she died. Ah the memories of what she did for me." He continued to walk forward. He wished the village would teleport to them instead of having to walk. The an idea came to him why not just teleport near the village and walk the rest of the way there. It was simple. He just had to change the portal that took him home to open near the village and end up nearby withing on breath. "How about a shortcut? A quick just using the portal I use to come to you." Of course he was going to need Sora to hold on tight in case there was a disturbance wile jumping between the two locations. He did not want to loose the kid. He shook his head, of course he wanted to loose the kid there. It would be simple and he would die in a matter of days.

Sora concentrated on walking carefully, not wanting to somehow slip or walk on a body. What would he look like when he was thirty? Being of mixed blood, even his father couldn't be sure if the summoner would actually age like a human. His mother had actually stopped aging after turning into a young woman, around the age of sixteen. Sora let out a shaky breath, everything he knew about her rushing to his mind.
Long hazelnut brown hair that was always down and clear green eyes. Her funny black witch's hat that she had stopped wearing but put on the staircase's railing. She had been small and fragile-looking, Sora having gotten his own body's stature from her. His mother had been a great warrior but still a loving person. And she had told her son about a lot of adventures. Had those really been true? Feeling more then slightly sick, the blond pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind. It wasn't the time to think about her or to get sad.
He rolled his eyes at Reiga calling him adorable. He wasn't adorable! That was a word that was saved for girls, babies, and animals. Well, the demon was lying anyway. But Sora did give the demon a strange look when he started talking about his old master. "What did you have her do?" the summoner asked, wanting to inch away from the demon at that moment. It had just sounded way too creepy.
Teleporting? Hm, it didn't actually seem like such a bad idea. Still, why wasn't Reiga just deserting him in the bloody battle-ridden plain and going home to wherever he lived in Hell? Swallowing quietly, Sora nodded toward Reiga, wondering what it was like. "Alright, that would make this much easier." the blond said, refering to the painfully slow pace they kept. "But first, if you don't mind my asking, why aren't you...you know...trying to just kill me? I already know the idea is somewhere in your head."
